Raymond 420 National Championship 2012 – Day 3

Chennai: Day Three of the RMYC Raymond’s 420 Sailing Nationals started off with a series of course adjustments due to shifting winds. Finally, the wind settled at 2:30 pm. with a light and tricky breeze. Race no: 6 commenced to see the K.Yakobu & Rajeev Kumar hold their lead and Upamanyu Dutta & Hussain K. finish just on their stern. The RMYC team of Rufus Patrick and Avinash Shanbhag did some excellent drill and finished in the top five today.

The next race saw Upamanyu and Hussain round just behind the leading boat at the top mark and subsequently pip them at the finish. This is the first time in this series that the anyone managed to beat the team from Hyderabad. Upamanyu and Hussain sail for the Royal Bombay Yacht Club and put up a brilliant show.

The final positions after 7 races with one discard are:

FIRST: Yaquob K & Rajeev – AWSA – Hyderabad with 6 points.
SECOND: Imo Lemnok & Pankaj Kumar – INWTC – Mumbai with 14 points
THIRD: Upamanyu Dutta & Hussain – RBYC – Mumbai with 17 points
